The Mineer Blog

Posted in Introduction at 12:16 am by mmineer

I started this blog for a few reasons.  First of all; it seems to me that the current trend of SEO (Search Engine Marketing) is blogging.  Search engines love blogs because they are dynamic, full of content, and generally more informative than a website in general.  I want to learn the process for many reasons – most of all is to market my own sites.  Secondly, I wanted a place for members of the family, and others, to track the progress of the Mineer (Michael Matthew) family.  As far as I can tell there are three main groups of Mineer’s.  Utah, Arizona, and Kentucky (and surrounding states).  I have been able to make a genealogical link from the Utah Mineer family to the Arizona Mineer’s.  However, I have yet to tie us in with those in the eastern part of the US.

Thirdly, and almost most importantly, I wanted to ensure that the Mineer name, when Googled, would show me.  I know that that is not a common search but when it is I want to make sure that it is me and no one else.  People might say why?  The answer is because I want to and I don’t see why not.  I guess it is intriguing to me to make the effort.  When I succeed at this then I can use the information I have learned to market money making website that can make me rich.

My big plan is to focus on my family.  I like list so I will often do things like a top ten list (probably top 7 because I am lazy and want to save me some time).

If you are a Mineer please feel free to drop an appropriate line or two letting me know what genealogy you know about yourself and anything else you might feel is important.

Hello. I too carry the Mineer name. I don’t know
much about my ancestors as I haven’t researched them. My brother has a lot of information that he would probably share with you. I’ll have to ask him
if he would do that. I was just surfing around and typed Mineer in a google search to see what it would come up with and that’s how I found your blog page.
I was born in Squire, W.Va. but our family moved to Kentucky when I was little. That’s where I have lived since then. I am 73 yrs old. I graduated from Tollesboro, Ky high school in 1950. I’ve been in the US Army and have worked at radio broadcasting, Tv repair, and for the N&W Railroad. I am now retired.
    That’s enough for now.
I hope you are not bored with this brief background. It’s interesting to see that the Mineer name is getting to be more common in the last few years.
Thank you for letting me put a note on here.
    Bennie H Mineer.

My father, James Russell Mineer, originally of the Lewis & Mason (Maysville) Kentucky clan, exchanged letters in the late ’70s with his first cousin, also James R Mineer, who moved to Phoenix, AZ. Interesting fact, my mother’s name is Lorena F. The Phoenix James’ wife’s name is Lorana F. That ties the AZ and KY Mineers for you.

My name is Kristi Mineer. I am 37 years old and was born and raised in St. Johns, Arizona. My father, Kelly Mineer, was also born and raised in St. Johns. His father, Carl Julius Mineer was also born and raised in St. Johns, Arizona. Before that I would have to look at my family history sheet to share more info. I do know that my Mineer family came to America from Sweden sometime during the American civil war. I also know that the name “Mineer” is something I have always been proud to carry because of the good reputation my family has created in this small town I live in.

    Hi Michael,
Long time! I love that you started and continue this site. It’s interesting, especially hearing from other Mineer’s.
I always thought that our ancestors were Mineur’s, but you show it spelled differently. Maybe I just need a genealogy brush up. haha Do you know when Carl Christian was born? am I right in thinking the mid 1700’s?
Well please keep the site going and I’ll keep tuning in occasionally. Hug to Tara and kids.
    Love, Jenny
ps….nice words about Grandpa. I miss him tremendously, too.

I am 35 years old and live in Cynthiana, KY where I was born and raised.

I have information about the Mineer family but some I prefer not to list here because I’m not sure where it originated from or if it’s true.

From what I’ve been told, from older family members, we have been tied in with Lorena and Lorana, as well as John Mineer. I have heard we came from France. I also heard we are Dutch. My grandfather’s name was Owen(David?)Mineer. I never met him and don’t really know anything about him. That seems to be a problem with many of the Mineers. We are too far apart and there’s much to be discovered.

I look forward to finding out more about it. Anyone is welcome to send me an email at anytime. In case it isn’t listed automatically, you can send it to jmineer (at) hillbillymail (dot) (com).

    Thanks

Hi my grandfather was Owen Mineer from Cynthiana too. The next to last poster from the same town is my cousin who I do not know but our fathers are brothers. Our fathers and their brothers all served in the military with 3 in war time. 2 of those 3 died in combat. I have taken an interest in 1 of them, his name was Buddy. I learned that he was in the 29th Div. that landed on D-Day. He servived in combat until July 31, 1944 when he died near a town called St. Lo, France. I have documents about this as well as those from our deceased grandparents. I also have a large lithograph of the cemetary he is buried in in Belgium and a photo of his tombstone. If you would like to know more email at jamie.mineer@gmail.com

I am a Mineer who lives in an area of Kentucky where several of the Mineer’s settled when they first came to the states. I live on the line between Lewis and Fleming County. Many of the descendents of the original families have migrated on to other parts of the states. There are only a few of us still in the area.

Well, Im not sure if you are still actively using this site, but I typed in Mineer in Google, and your site popped up. I am not a Mineer, but I am a descendant of one. My Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather is Andrew Mineer. He was a talented Violinist , who had played for the King of Sweden. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1861 and crossed the Atlantic ocean in a ship called Monarch of the Sea. that same year he crossed the plains in Captain Jon Murdock’s Company. He had a son Named August Emil Mineer, who married Francis Ann White. They had Eleven Children, one being Birdie Elizabeth Mineer, born April 11, 1874. In 1878 she and her family were called to move to Piute County, utah, then moved to Grass Valley in 1880.
In 1882, Wilford Woodruff, called her family to settle in St. Johns , Arizona, along with 25 families. Joel William, Francis thomas White, and Andrew Mineer. Birdie Mineer went on to marry August Julius Lundquist of Snowflake, AZ. Birdie Mineer Lundquist is MY grandmothers , Grandmother.
SO, I do have relation, and I am glad to be a part of such an amazing Heritage.
